The Greene County Historical Society Museum consists of 12 rooms that contain items of historic significance to Greene County and the surrounding area.  The last seven rooms were renovated between 2007 and 2010 through private donations totaling almost $90,000 from members, organizations, businesses, and local individuals/sources.
Museum exhibits were then expanded or created with items in storage and recently donated to the Society. There is no charge to view the museum and hours are from 9 am to 3 pm Wednesday and Friday or by special appointment. Pictures on this page highlight some of the featured items in the various rooms.

Our Mission

The mission of the Society shall be to research, collect care for, exhibit, and interpret items that illustrate the history of Greene County from settlement to the present time, and place it in the context of the history of the State of Illinois.
