John Langer will present the program on old US Route 66. The presentation was
developed by the museum in St. Louis and highlights how the road got started and what
happened over the years to the whole road itself, but mostly between St. Louis and
Springfield MO.

Carol (Farrow) Piper will present an overview of the Farrow Dairy operation in the
1940’s and 1950’s.

Larry Weber will present the program on Barbering in Carrollton 50+ years ago.
September 8-9, 2023 – Annual Greene County Days
Museum and library will be open for tours both days from 9 am to 3 pm. Several
activities and special exhibits will be conducted both days in the museum. Black
Homestead Farm will have an open house on Sept 9 th to celebrate the 200 th anniversary of
the old farmhouse built in 1823.

Jerry Reno will present the program about the grain elevators in Greene County and the
terminals along the river. These businesses are very critical to agricultural production
and marketing in Greene County. He worked at the one in White Hall for many years.
The mission of the Society shall be to research, collect, care for, exhibit, and interpret items that illustrate the history of Greene County from settlement to the present time, and place it in the context of the history of the State of Illinois.
